Culinary genius

We have been fortunate enough to sample the delights of Jo’s cooking on various occasions but last weekend, we put forward the ultimate challenge and asked her to cater for a dinner party in the dark!

Only Jo would be brave (crazy) enough to say ‘yes’ and duly, she went about creating the most phenomenal, ten course taster menu for an eclectic bunch of ten of us (with various dietary requests!), in secret, then proceeded to manage the chaotic logistics of serving 10 courses, to 10 people in complete darkness, keeping glasses topped up at all times!

It was a mind-blowing gastronomic experience. When you can’t actually see your food, your sense of taste, smell and texture is greatly heightened. Only the very best of cooks could take on a challenge like this successfully. Despite the darkness, there is nowhere to hide if your food doesn’t taste good and so it was a fitting stage for Jo to properly showcase her culinary genius. Jo, you are a veritable tour de force. I salute you.
